4 months, 3 continents, 2 people, 1 adventureAfter months of uncertainty, we can finally announce that we are taking a break from it all to travel the world. For most of the past year we were trying for an overseas transfer with my company. We even shortened our lease last year in anticipation. But with our lease renewal approaching, we hadn't been able to finalize anything. Finally I spoke with my company, who instead offered a transfer across the US. I told them of our wish to travel the world to some degree, even if we couldn't move abroad, and we settled on a extended leave of absence to travel before we settled down for good. Within a few days of confirming, we canceled our lease renewal, Taylor notified her company, and we started making travel plans for January. With my heart racing we officially booked our first leg of travel this week. On January 22nd we are heading to Chile and Argentina for 5 weeks. To celebrate, we even popped a bottle of Dom Perignon we've been saving since our wedding! Only the first leg has been booked: a trip to South America to hike Patagonia, with stops in Santiago and Buenos Aires. Afterwards we plan to visit the South Pacific and Southeast Asia, with a layover in the states in between.
Before we leave, we've got an apartment of stuff to pack or sell, an itinerary to build, and and heck of a lot of gear to acquire... Good thing Taylor is almost done with her job and will be taking care of all that for us! We can't wait to get this trip started and to share it with you.
